Fabio De Minicis, born in Argentina in 1968, grew up in his father’s workshop, playing amongst his father’s tools and his mother's craftworks. He studied Fine Arts at INSA National Institute of Art, (today Know as IUPA) Patagonian Institute of Arts in General Roca, Black River, Argentina before going on to study three years of Architecture at the University of Architecture, Planning and Design in the city of Mar del Plata . Having worked for twelve years in various different Medias linked to the world of art and design from his native country, he then entered the field of decoration, restoration and the reuse of furniture. He also became a contributor to the magazine Mendoza Decora. He spent his last years of residence in his country surrounded by a group of artists and craftsmen in Bermejo, Mendoza, Argentina. This tour forges his aesthetic sense and passion for the arts.
In 2002 he moved to Barcelona, where he continues with his work, focusing on recycling of old objects, painting, refurbishing flats, as well as spending hours in front of his computer, giving life to projects that cross multiple disciplines such as design, decoration, construction, art, computers and photography. From his workshop, in the magical district of Borne, he creates with both unknown and familiar materials. His works, using recycled objects and materials, are almost always oriented to décor. The typography, exploring possibilities with different formats and the use of light and shadow are several features of his daily work, which always tries to show a custom character and language and aesthetic sense.
